Call it an internship, administrator or office manager position; quite simply we need someone who can help us grow membership directly through marketing and PR skills, and indirectly by smoothing out the current members’ experiences. But this is a two-way street and we also want to give someone the opportunity to grow and learn as a member of the community. This is a perfect opportunity for someone thinking about an independent marketing/PR career.  This is a part-time (20 hours/week), paid contract position, and eligible to receive college credit. Persons with an academic background and interest in Public Relations, Marketing or Business are strongly desired.

Cincinnati Coworks is a coworking community and space and the 1st of its kind in Cincinnati. Our purpose is to advocate for and support self-employed professionals, and incite creativity, opportunity, and learning by gathering people with ideas. Members are programmers, writers, entrepreneurs, telecommuters, and more. Members choose from full-time, part-time and single day memberships.

What You Will Do

  • Buy into the coworking values.
  • Be available 20 hours/week (flexible schedule)
  • Execute our marketing plan through social media and traditional channels.
  • Conduct Public Relations through our blog and through press releases.
  • Plan and organize events in the space (meetups, brown bag lunches, parties)
  • General office management such as monthly invoicing, keeping supplies stocked.
  • Field in-person inquiries and email inquiries.
  • Give tours to visitors and new members.
  • Open the space most mornings and make the 1st pot of coffee.

What You Will Get (Besides Money)

  • Autonomy to create your own strategies and see their direct results (make CCW your baby!)
  • A full-time membership ($250/month value) and all the amenities appertaining to.
  • Access to an incredible set of minds to grow your own ideas and business off of.
  • An opportunity to be a part of something unique in the city.
  • Have fun!

Co-Lunching at Cilantro https://cincycoworks.com/2011/10/24/co-lunching-at-cilantro/ https://cincycoworks.com/2011/10/24/co-lunching-at-cilantro/#comments Mon, 24 Oct 2011 18:51:10 +0000 http://www.cincycoworks.com/?p=784

Today’s Cincy Coworks Field Trip: Cilantro in Clifton Heights.

It was my first trip there, and we ended up with four bowls full of noodle deliciousness. We give it four thumbs up.

I had the Vermicelli noodle bowl with chicken. It was super yummy, and a steal for less than $7. (Though I’m not skilled enough to eat it with chopsticks.)

Then we headed back to the office and Kevin shared these delicious brownies:

Now it’s back to the working part of co-working…

Who are you, and what do you do?

Hi, I’m Michelle Taute, the lone writer at Cincy Coworks. (Well, writer, editor and creative entrepreneur.) I’ve done everything from writing articles for major national magazines to creating board game content and penning copy for Fortune 500 brands.

How did  you come to join Cincy Coworks?

I’ve been obsessed with The Grotto in San Francisco for years and kept hoping someone would start something similar in Cincinnati. One day, I stumbled across Cincy Coworks online while writing at a coffee shop.

What cool project are you working on these days?

I’m finishing my second book, The Design Activist’s Handbook, with my co-author, Noah Scalin, and working on some corporate projects I can’t tell you much about. You’ll also find me blogging regularly for The Creative Freelancer Blog. Check out my latest post: 5 Freelancing Lessons From My Remodeling Contractor.

Who are you, and what do you do?

I’m founder of Henrich Interactive, a web development company in Cincinnati.  We create purposeful web sites and consult on data analysis for small- to medium- businesses, startups, and our own projects.

How did  you come to join Cincy Coworks?

I found out about Cincy Coworks online when I was looking for a place to work side-by-side with other creative people. I met with founders Gerard & Bill, and others interested in the idea, and we decided to make a go of it.

What cool project are you working on these days?

Shhh… it’s a secret. Follow @paulhenrich to be first to know.

Get To Know A Member — Bill Barnett https://cincycoworks.com/2010/10/27/get-to-know-a-member-bill-barnett/ https://cincycoworks.com/2010/10/27/get-to-know-a-member-bill-barnett/#comments Wed, 27 Oct 2010 12:55:00 +0000 http://www.cincycoworks.com/2010/10/27/get-to-know-a-member-bill-barnett/ Our first in a series of member profiles.

Who are you, and what do you do?

I’m a late starter and an entrepreneur, an odd mix to be sure. I say "late starter" because I got married, earned my degree, had my first child, and found my calling in life after the age of 35 and most of that after turning 40. I am a former Marine and worked for 17 years mostly as an aircraft mechanic for a large commercial airline. A hockey injury forced me behind a desk for a couple of months as desktop computers began appearing in the workplace in the early 90’s and the rest, as they say, is history. I earned a BS in computer science from the University of Cincinnati in 2002 and was hired that same year by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where I wrote PHP Web applications. Recently I’ve been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and have co-founded three companies since March 2008. I became an independent software developer in March of 2009 and love life "on the outside."

How did  you come to join Cincy Coworks?

Cincy Coworks is one of the three companies I mentioned co-founding. I met Gerard Sychay, the other co-founder, while working at Children’s Hospital. We were involved in a couple professional development groups after hours and he helped me form the local PHP developers group in 2005. From the outset of our professional careers we shared a sense of the importance of community and we looked around the country at other similar sized cities and saw some of the interesting things that were taking place there and we wanted to do something similar to promote Cincinnati as a hub of innovative thinking. Cincy Coworks is that "something."

What cool project are you working on these days?

BudgetSketch Aside from Cincy Coworks, any free time I have is consumed by my other startups. The first is BudgetSketch, a Web-based personal finance tool that is the antithesis of Mint. Mint is about looking backward at past spending where the users of the application are actually the product that is being consumed by large commercial lenders. BudgetSketch is about looking forward and making a plan for your money which might otherwise be spent impulsively. The second is Gaslight Software which we describe as an agile software development cooperative. Essentially we’re a group of professionals who have worked together, albeit as independents, for many years. Working together we can maximize our skills to the benefit of our clients. At Gaslight, we work with companies large and small, new and old but what we deliver is consistent, quality software.

Cincy Coworks Now Open! https://cincycoworks.com/2010/07/06/cincy-coworks-now-open/ https://cincycoworks.com/2010/07/06/cincy-coworks-now-open/#comments Tue, 06 Jul 2010 16:17:28 +0000 http://www.cincycoworks.com/2010/07/06/cincy-coworks-now-open/ Cincy Coworks is now open! Thanks to those of you who offered input, or dropped by our home-before-our-home at Venue 222 in OTR.

But we have a long way to go of course, and much in the works. Our first event is a meeting of the local PHP Users Group this Thursday, July 8th. I just hope we have enough chairs.

We currently have 6 full-time members. We still have room for additional full-time members. Some of you may have been interested in joining earlier, but had a hard time doing so before "seeing" it.

Speaking of "seeing" it, we’re currently figuring out our part-time membership structure (anything you’d like to see?) and drop-in rate. Also, expect some free days of Jelly coworking in the near future.

Watch the mailing list, the website, or Twitter, for the latest news (Facebook page, not so much)!
